World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Communications & Knowledge Management Technician in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The duration of this post is 2 years.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations’ system.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Communications & Knowledge Management Technician will perform the following functions-
- Administer and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Country Office’s Knowledge Center (K-Center), ensuring the smooth functioning of integrated information systems for internal, external and Internet accessibility; implement operational guidelines and procedures to improve the efficiency and quality of information in the databases; monitor the process of ensuring quality and accuracy of the health information.
- Coordinate the implementation of the Publishing Policy and Web strategy, and standard procedures for ensuring quality and accuracy of the information; supervise the organization, production and dissemination of local publications; assist in the process of establishing agreements with technical projects and official counterparts; ensure the implementation of the integrated institutional publishing policy, involving Open Access initiatives, electronic publishing, and repositories.
- Provide assistance in the implementation of the Country Office’s Institutional Repository and assisting with capacity building activities for knowledge sharing and information management.
- Provide assistance to internal and external public with training activities such as courses, workshops and demonstrations; produce guidelines and manuals about bibliographic searches, electronic information retrieval technologies and resources; serve as an information coordinator for technical program databases projects for training and supervising individuals assigned to technical processes.
- Assist in the preparation of Knowledge Center biennial program budget (BPB) controlling expenditures against the allotment assigned to the K-Center.
- Serve both as the KBR and CMU’s focal point in the Office to provide support and inputs to develop the principal KM and CMU’s products and services.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- High school diploma with formal and specialized training in communication, media studies, journalism or related field.
- A bachelor’s degree in library, information sciences or a related field would be an asset.
- Six years of experience in knowledge management and/or communications, library or information systems projects.
- Very good knowledge of Spanish and English.
