World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Programme Assistant in Aleppo, Syria. The duration for the post is of 6 months.
The WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant will perform the following functions-
- Monitor and review regular sources of information and data required for preparation of reports.
- Provide support to the Head of Field Office to address critical information and reporting requirements from the Country Office.
- Liaise with other units to obtain detailed information on WFP operations in the governorates under the field office competency.
- Liaise as needed with partners and various units in the field office to obtain information on the humanitarian situation on the ground and WFP response.
- Provide regular inputs from the field for situation reports (SITREPs) and monthly operational reports, summarizing WFP activities.
- Compile information and data required for other operational reports, donor briefs, maps and other informational tools or products.
- Prepare status and progress reports, including weekly situation reports and ad-hoc briefs covering operational activities at respective areas of operation.
- Provide timely update to the Country Office on humanitarian situation developments in the geographic area of competency.
- Proactively collect and record information on food or cash assistance provided by other organizations, including local charities and NGOs not affiliated with WFP, in respective areas operation.
- Assist in implementing public information and advocacy strategies developed at the Country Office.
- Prepare operational documents and briefs for the Field Office management, counterparts, cooperating partners and other participating agencies.
- Support the Head of Field Office in taking minutes or notes for the record of key meetings or field-level sartorial meetings.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
- Communication with technical teams (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.).
- Contributed to implementation of programmes.
- Observed or assisted with policy discussions.
- At least two years of progressively responsible support or secretarial work experience including at least one year in the field of reporting, communication, media or other related field.
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.
