The Islamic Development Bank (ISDB) is currently accepting applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Lead Gender Specialist based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Lead Gender Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Lead the development and implementation of gender strategy, policies and operational plans.
- Develop close collaboration with other relevant departments, sectors and units to implement the gender policy and gender action plan, monitor progress and report regularly to Management.
- Provide overall leadership on mainstreaming women’s empowerment measures into the Bank’s operations, in coordination with other departments.
- Ensure that women’s empowerment and gender issues are well positioned within the corporate results framework, identify and select the gender-relevant indicators based on the policy objectives.
- Track and report the progress on gender mainstreaming objectives and targets.
- Contribute effectively to the annual planning exercise of the Department in terms of budget, initiatives, programs and operations.
- Play a strong advocacy role within and on behalf of the Bank on women’s empowerment and gender issues with an Islamic perspective.
- Lead the integration of gender issues into Member Country Partnership Strategy (MCPS) and policy dialogue with Member Countries.
- Identify strategic entry points and partners to work on women’s empowerment issues in Member Countries.
- Support the various committees that oversee and discuss IDB programs / projects and activities on issues relevant to women advancement and empowerment.
- Develop initiatives related to gender, streamline and roll-out the successful ones where needed and where suitable.
- Develop strategic partnership with the view of synergy, complementarities and co-financing opportunities.
- Develop appropriate in-house mechanisms and modes of financing for gender-related programs and projects.
- Mobilize additional resources to implement gender-specific activities.
- Disseminate and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices from similar development institutions.
- Advocate for enhanced gender mainstreaming by promoting sector knowledge papers.
- Lead and participate in networks on gender within and outside the Bank.
- Introduce innovative approaches in conceptualizing, designing and implementing gender-related activities.
- Promote diversity and innovation in research to support women empowerment / gender initiatives.
- Lead knowledge product development on gender issues and prepare technical papers related to women’s economic and social empowerment.
- Technically guide, advise and coach team members.
- Establish a mechanism to collect and analyse the mainstreaming of women’s empowerment and gender issues within the Bank’s operations for monitoring and reporting.
- Lead task teams to track and monitor progress on women’s empowerment and gender mainstreaming across all core practice areas and services provided by the Bank.
- Encourage and build partnership among Member Countries and sister entities in women economic and social empowerment.
- Advise on the ways and means to sensitize the IDB working approach and environment to ensure that it is sensitive to women staff members and women’s needs in Member Countries.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master degree in Business Administration / International Development / Economics / any relevant discipline.
- 12 years of relevant experience.
- Sound knowledge of operations including, project cycle and project approval process of multilateral development banks.
- Deep knowledge of women’s economic and social empowerment within the member countries based on Islamic culture point of view.
- Proven leadership and team leading skills and ability to work in multi-cultural environment.
- Advanced knowledge in Result based Logical Framework development
- Ability to present ideas and mobilize support around them.
- Analytical skills.
- Project management skills
- Fluency in English, French & Arabic.
