The Progressio is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Programme Funding Manager based in Brixton, London.
Progressio is a UK-based charity working internationally to enable poor and marginalised people in developing countries to challenge and change the situations that keep them poor.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Programme Funding Manager will perform the following functions-
- Take a lead in developing and reviewing the overall programme funding strategy, working closely with the DIP, as Progressio develops new models of working, partnerships and consortia.
- Lead the implementation of the programme funding strategy, securing income to meet institutional funding targets, working in collaboration with the London and regionally-based PFOs, and other relevant staff.
- Work with CRs/SRMs and PFOs to develop/update fundraising strategies for each programme.
- Work with the DIP to identify gaps and set funding targets.
- Work with CRs/SRMs to identify capacity gaps and support needs to strengthen fundraising.
- Develop guidance, protocols and tools to streamline fundraising approaches and ensure grant seeking across the organisation corresponds to strategic and annual plans and budgets.
- Support the PFOs to take a planned approach to fundraising and monitor progress and trends in their portfolios.
- Provide support and capacity building to country programmes on fundraising to increase quality and volume of grant applications.
- Recommend to the DIP and the CRs/SRMs occasional non-submission of applications in order to maintain high standards and to protect and enhance Progressio’s reputation.
- Hold regular support and supervision meetings to set priorities, agree individual work plans and timeframes, give and receive input to funding plans, discuss issues that arise and agree next steps.
- Carry out the six-monthly and annual Performance and Development Reviews with the PFO.
- On a daily basis, as required, support the PFO and review applications, reports and other funding related activities.
- Ensure the monitoring database of applications and grants is kept up-to-date.
- Analyse the results of monthly reports from PFOs to identify successes and gaps, and take the necessary steps to achieve our income targets.
- Discuss progress with the DIP, PFOs and CRs/SRMs through monthly Skype meetings.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience
- Training in fundraising, e.g. proposal development, donor relations, or equivalent experience
- Experience in developing funding strategies for overseas development programmes
- Demonstrable track record of successful fundraising from a variety of UK and international institutional funders of sums in the excess of £150,000
- Proven experience of writing high quality funding proposals and donor reports
- Experience of leading quality control of funding applications (narrative and budget)
- Experience of developing and maintaining tracking systems to monitor success rates of applications, income secured and pipeline/likely funding
- Experience of working with people remotely in different time zones with different working patterns
- Excellent knowledge of current UK and international funding trends and sources
- Ability to engage and build effective donor relationships
- Ability to assimilate, analyse and disseminate written information quickly
- Excellent writing skills for fundraising, including the ability to write appealing proposals for different audiences
- Numeracy skills and the ability to prepare and interpret financial information
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of people in a respectful and collaborative manner, and enhance effective work relationships
- Sound organisational and time management skills, with the ability to use own initiative, be self-motivated and prioritise effectively in order to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Computer literacy (particularly Word, spreadsheets, databases, email and internet)
- An entrepreneurial, results orientated and dynamic approach
