OneWorld UK is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Regional Manager. The position will be based in Dakar or Bamako, West Africa.
OneWorld UK is an international NGO based in the UK, implementing programmes worldwide. Key Job Responsibilities
The Regional Manager will perform the following functions-
- Contributes to OWUK’s fundraising at the highest level.
- Proposes a regional and fundraising strategy to Programme Director (PD) and Executive Director (ED), and works with them to maintain the strategy as a living document.
- Explore and develop alliances with other organisations to extend the reach and impact of OneWorld’s programme in the region.
- Help maintain Oneworld UK as one of the leading NGOs globally on innovative use of Information and Communications Technology to support governance, youth and women active citizenship work, and attract significant external funding to further scale up our work in the west African region.
- Ensure high quality performance management for direct line reports, regular appraisals, effective work-planning and harmonisation of work.
- Convene and provide professional advice and support to the country managers.
- Ensure excellent communications with the Regional Country Managers/Team members and the rest of the OneWorld team.
- Relationship management with key partners and stakeholders (e.g. private organisations, foundations, international agencies, NGOs and government bodies in most countries) and funders; and follow up on contacts as passed on by the PD, ED or other team members.
- Oversee and contribute to the promotion of regional programme activities.
- Support country managers in developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in their target areas.
- Ensure the development of operational budgets for each country, and their presentation to the Programme Director (and Executive Director) for approval.
- Ensure own chargeability targets are met, and work with PD and ED to ensure regional targets are met.
- Procurement and allocation of resources are in line with organizational objectives and available resources.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree, or equivalent education/knowledge, in health, politics, policy or social sciences relevant to health and governance
- Significant experience in fundraising for major projects and programmes in sub-Saharan and especially Francophone West Africa.
- Fluency in English and French, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in programme management in developing countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, including programmes implemented in partnership with both the public and private sectors.
- Experience managing or supporting EU/USAID/DFID-funded initiatives, and you can demonstrate an understanding of donor relations and reporting.
- You have experience (at least 10 years) building the technical capacity of local organisations or NGOs in developing countries, with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders and partners.
- Experienced in the development/implementation of ICT4D projects, programmes and service delivery approaches in an operational context have proven experience of technical leadership, particularly as it relates to programme coordination and implementation, advocacy efforts and analysis of needs and gaps.
- Strong staff management skills and experience, including virtual (long-distance) management of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent analytical, project management, budget management and IT skills, with the ability to manage your time to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in governance and democracy, and experience in health sector issues is desirable, as is experience in gender integration and/or youth programming.
