Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of WASH Program Manager in Tamale, Ghana.
The WASH Program Manager will foster and maintain linkages and partnership arrangements with relevant stakeholders from the Government of Ghana.
CRS carries out the commitment of the Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The WASH Program Manager will perform the following functions-
- Lead planning, development and periodic appraisals of WASH development programs to ensure compliance with Agency’s standards and formats, and in accordance with identified needs.
- Ensure overall program quality for CRS Ghana WASH related interventions and work with the Regional WASH Technical Assistant (RTA) and other colleagues to apply new systems, tools, strategies, guidelines, etc to deliver high quality services within the specified timeline and allocated budget.
- Give particular attention to support the Health Unit in the smooth and effective implementation of installation of WASH infrastructure in the I-SHINE project.
- Study recommendations provided by WASH RTA from recent visit and work with I-SHINE team to ensure implementation, with focus on “software”.
- Ensure I-SHINE follows the WASH in Schools approach.
- Collaborate with I-SHINE Project Coordinator to work alongside WAN and I-SHINE contractors to ensure progress is satisfactory.
- Lead planning and execution of 2016 activities with Water Access Now.
- Provide direct technical assistance to implementing partners to ensure technical soundness and high quality WASH activities as required.
- Support the Tamale Office Manager as required with overall leadership and coordination of resources in the Tamale Office.
- Ensure ICT4D technologies are used appropriately in WASH MEAL systems.
- Document the implementation process, lessons learnt and success stories for dissemination.
- Contribute to strategic thinking on WASH issues in the country program and lead technical approach to business development in WASH.
- Assess current gaps in the country program WASH portfolio and advise the HPM and Head of Programs on approaches to grow the portfolio.
- Develop project ideas/concepts/proposals to grow the WASH sector within CRS/Ghana.
- Lead compilation and analysis of relevant data and statistics to support decision making and proposal development.
- Ensure link with line ministries and other WASH institutions to make sure that they are consulted and informed of CRS WASH activities.
- Liaise with district-based organizations, NGOs and partners on WASH related issues at the district level.
- Cultivate positive working relations with CRS partners and other partner-organizations.
- Work with the implementing partners to identify and address their capacity building needs.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s Degree in WASH related discipline.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ international development experience in WASH quality at national level.
- Demonstrated proposal writing skills, particularly of USG or other public donor funded programs required.
- Experience with participatory methods and partnerships required. Demonstrated capacity and experience with institutional strengthening of local civil society and government agencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trends in sector and debate on WASH as part of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Joint Monitoring Program, equity, gender and sustainability.
- Demonstrated personal accountability and driven to serve others.
- Demonstrated commitment to improving gender equality and gender responsiveness in programming and operations.
- Proven leadership and inter-personal skills and ability to build and motivate diverse and talented teams.
- Understanding of and experience with faith-based organizations, local church structures, and accompaniment and capacity-building principles in local partnerships highly desired.
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally as required.
- Excellent English language oral and written communication skills required; proficiency in French and experience working in Francophone countries highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
- Strong leadership skills, including strategic thinking, problem solving, effective communication and negotiating skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills.
