World Vision (WV) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Water Quality Laboratory Manager in Tamale, Ghana. The duration for the post is of 2 years.
The Water Quality Laboratory Manager will work closely with World Vision field staff in WASH countries in West Africa and if needed in other Africa regions for programmatic design, implementation, development of best practices and follow-up of water quality management and improvement.

Key Jobs Responsibility
The Water Quality Laboratory Manager will perform the following functions-
- Develop, plan, and coordinate the implementation of water quality activities undertaken in the WASH targeted countries in West Africa.
- Lead the Certification process of the Regional Water Quality Laboratory and assure it is operational in the respect of standards and quality results.
- Provide both technical and analytical support to the countries in water quality analysis at the field and local laboratories level.
- In consultation with the Regional WASH Specialist, lead the recruitment of water quality team for the Regional Water Quality Laboratory and build their capacity.
- Identify and develop necessary training tools, build capacities of country teams in water quality testing, management and improvement.
- Provide direct support to the countries on water quality programmatic issues.
- Develop or update water quality guidelines and protocols for the target countries.
- Conduct the periodical follow-up and the periodical evaluation of water quality activities in the respective countries.
- Lead water quality data Management at laboratory and country level.
- Identify, document and implement any related activity contributing to the sustainability of water quality activities in the respective countries.
- Produce water quality reports for the Regional Water Quality Laboratory, review water quality data and reports coming from countries and provide technical advice as well.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced degree in engineering, public health, geology, chemistry, hydrogeology, hydrology, or similar field or equivalent experience required.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, or on-the-job training.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Good computer and internet skills, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Five years minimum professional experience in water quality activities, of which 3 years are in developing countries, working on integrated WASH and water quality programs.
- Ability to travel and work in remote rural areas.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan monitor and evaluate programmes, as well as to teach skills and build team capacity.
- Experience with natural and complex political emergencies in diverse cultural and climatic settings.
- Experience of applying humanitarian accountability standards.
- Experience in liaison with a broad range of stakeholders, ability to build relationships and networks with international donors, UN agencies and INGOs, national authorities, national/local partner agencies and emergency affected communities.
- Computer skills, including internet navigation, and various office applications.
- Willingness to travel and work under difficult conditions.
- Quickly builds rapport with individuals and groups and nurtures good relationships across organizational levels and boundaries from government leaders to all stakeholders and the affected population.
- Proven negotiation, communication and advocacy skills.
- Experienced coaching and mentoring skills will be an added advantage.
- Ability to encourage and contribute to a climate of team-working and collaboration in a multi-cultural environment.
- Consistently achieves high-level results, managing and delivering projects and activities on-time and on-budget.
- Recognized leadership and supervisory skills; provides others with a clear direction; motivates and empowers others.
