ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a consultant- Deputy Chief of Party, Burkina Faso and invites applications from qualified and suitable applicants. Location of this job will be based in Kaya, Burkina Faso.
Responsibilities
- Represent ACDI/VOCA interests during meetings with USAID Mission persoannel, U.S. Embassy staff, host-country government officials, international organizations, indigenous and international NGOs, international donors and others interested in ACDI/VOCA activities
- Assist the COP in developing and implementing a project strategy and an integrated program approach to promote cohesion in activities and maximize resource utilization
- Communicate and share program information as requested by the COP with other USAID project managers, bilateral donors, U.N. organizations and other indigenous and international NGOs to ensure visibility of ACDI/VOCA activities
- Supervise key Kaya-based administrative staff and key technical staff including the Agriculture/Livelihoods Director, Health and Nutrition Director, M&E Director and Gender Specialist
- Oversee budgets to ensure all expenditures are in compliance with ACDI/VOCA and donor policies and regulations as well as within the scope of the program budget
- Work with the Compliance Officer to monitor budget, fund disbursal and financial records, ensuring that project expenditures are in compliance with ACDI/VOCA and USAID policies and regulations
- Provide higher representational responsibilities, such as serving as the Chief of Party in the absence of the COP
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or relevant university degree required
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience, 7 years’ experience preferred, with livelihoods, food security, rural development or agribusiness donor-funded projects in a management capacity with experience supervising a diverse staff
- Knowledge about USAID rules and regulations and demonstrated capacity to manage grants and ensure compliance with regulations; Title II experience preferred
- Experience supervising and leading teams and monitoring staff performance
- Experience working in Africa, preferably West Africa
- Experience working in conflict and post-conflict areas is preferred
- Experience integrating gender into development programming is preferred
- Familiarity with maternal and child health and nutrition programming is preferred
- Strong computer skills, must be confident in Microsoft applications, particularly MS Word and Excel; database experience preferred
- Fluency in English and French is required
