United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) invites applications from the eligible candidates for the post of Programme Analyst – UNDP/DPA Joint Programme On Building National Capacities For Conflict Prevention. Job location is New York, USA This is contract based job and the duration of initial contract is 364 days. Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English is required and Proficiency in at least one other UN official language is desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Under the guidance of the Technical Committee, the direct supervision of the Coordinator, Conflict Prevention and Recovery, and in close coordination with the Head of BCPR’s Conflict Prevention Group, the Programme Analyst will ensure the provision of analytical and secretariat support while ensuring the effective day-to-day management of the Joint Programme. Working in close collaboration with relevant DPA and UNDP staff, the Programme Analyst will undertake the following key functions:
- Assist relevant DPA and UNDP staff and focal points with the monitoring and evaluation of, and reporting on, the support provided through the Joint Programme;
- Produce advocacy and communication materials pertaining to the Joint Programme;
- Support day-to-day financial management of Joint Programme, and provide programmatic support to relevant country focal points in the Conflict Prevention Group as appropriate;
- Support information-sharing and exchange between HQ and field, and within and between UNDP and DPA.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Master’s level degree in International Relations, Economics/ Management, Development Studies or related field;
- Additional qualifications and certification related to conflict prevention is desirable.
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in programme activities for UNDP or another international organization;
- Experience working in programme management, including familiarity with communicating and coordinating with staff from across the UN system and field offices, as required;
- Knowledge and first-hand experience in supporting UN’s work in conflict prevention is highly desirable.
Language Requirements:
- Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English is required;
- Proficiency in at least one other UN official language is desirable.
