The Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) – based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and working in the field of development at the international level – has announced the AGFUND International Prize given to innovative human development projects for the purpose of recognizing, rewarding and encouraging the design and successful implementation of innovative and pioneering projects in the field of human development. “It aims at facilitating the replication, dissemination and transfer of best practices in development to improve the living conditions of the poor and the disadvantaged with particular emphasis on women and children. AGFUND is of the belief that the spread of knowledge among development workers fosters the exchange of experiences and enhances the development of better methodologies for addressing the complex problems of poverty, exclusion and socioeconomic alienation of vulnerable groups. Based on this concept, AGFUND Prize is considered to be a strategic instrument for advancing human knowledge to sustain the process of development.”
The objectives of the Prize are:
- Support the distinguished efforts aiming at developing and promoting the concepts and dimensions of human development.
- Disseminate and circulate the successful development experiences.
- Highlight the best practices in development to improve the living conditions of the poor and the disadvantaged with particular emphasis on women and children.
- Enhance the exchange of experiences and develop better mechanisms to find solutions to the problems of poverty, marginalization and socioeconomic exclusion of vulnerable groups.
