The Fondation Ensemble has announced its 2015 Calls for Proposals. Organizations implementing projects in Mozambique, Cambodia, Laos, Ecuador and Peru and further more in Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia and Cape Verde to provide sustainable solutions to problems local communities are facing are encouraged to submit concept notes. There are three different types of call, first for four specific areas of intervention; second for special call on artisanal fisheries; and third small grants call on threatened animal species. Small Grants call is open to implement projects anywhere around the globe where the project can be applicable and special call is particularly for Mozambique.

Types of Calls
- Focus Sector Call – Accepting applications on four different intervention areas for five focus countries (Mozambique, Cambodia, Laos, Ecuador and Peru) and the coastal areas of some West African countries (Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia and Cape Verde).
- Special Call – on Sustainable Management of Artisanal Fisheries in Mozambique.
- Small Grants Call – on Threatened Animal Species open for organizations around the world.
The Foundation focuses on projects that support local communities bring about effective and long-lasting solutions to the world’s problems. The foundation’s missions are interconnected with the four focus areas of intervention – sustainable agriculture, sustainable fishing, land and marine biodiversity conservation, and sustainable technologies that are chosen to help the world’s most disadvantaged populations, in places where the environment is most degraded or under the greatest threat.
For Focus sector call, grant request can be made for maximum € 50,000 per year for two to four years project. For Threatened Animal Species Call, grant request can be made for up to € 15,000 for one to two years. In both cases, the requested grant should not exceed 50% of the total project budget. In case of Special call on sustainable management of Artisanal fisheries in Mozambique, the grant may range between € 100,000 and € 200,000 for two to three years. This contribution can be up to 60% of the total project budget.
Project Criteria: The project should
- Be in line with national strategy in the country of intervention.
- Be participatory and partnership-based – implemented in conjunction with recognized local and/or international partners and should foster capacity building.
- Deliver sustainable and measurable results, based on appropriate concrete action.
- Encourage innovation whenever possible.
- Take account of climate change mainly by factoring in its expected effects (adaptation) but also, when possible, by enabling greenhouse gas emissions to be reduced (mitigation).
- Encourage an entrepreneurial approach and the development of local businesses that create jobs and ensure sustainability and replication.
- Promote the empowerment of women, whenever possible, and encourage genuine participation by women in all stages and at all levels of project implementation, particularly in coordination and governance bodies.
Promote a rights-based approach and encourage shared responsibility between all stakeholders, including the poorest and most vulnerable, community or business organizations, and those in positions of power (institutional, economic, social, religious, etc.).
