Submit Research Proposals on the Open Government Partnership

The Open Government Partnership Support Unit is inviting proposals on research on the commitments made by participating countries in their National Action Plans.
OGP is a multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from government to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance.
OGP’s vision is that more governments become sustainably more transparent, more accountable, and more responsive to their own citizens, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of governance, as well as the quality of services that citizens receive.
Proposal Categories
- Research that makes use of existing OGP data, including the NAPs, IRM data and the OGP Explorer for cross-thematic or cross country analysis. Data visualizations are encouraged.
- Preliminary research to help OGP understand its impact in participating countries. Proposals that present a framework and concrete example of how OGP can capture its contribution both at the country and at the initiative levels are encouraged.
Grant Information
- A total of 6 grants of EUR 2500 each will be awarded.
- Four grants will be awarded for proposals under category 1st mentioned above and two for those under category B.
- A jury will select the three best papers across the two categories and the winners will receive funding for the lead author to attend and findings at the 2015 OGP Global Summit in Mexico.

- Maintain high-level political leadership and commitment to OGP within participating countries
- Support domestic reformers with technical expertise and inspiration
- Foster more engagement in OGP by a diverse group of citizens and civil society organizations
Eligibility Criteria
Any organization, individual, or group of individuals from OGP countries with a passion for open government and availability to deliver a proposal and complete paper are eligible to submit their proposals.
