It is a fact that local and international NGOs have been severely impacted by global crises such as the economic recession and the climate change during the past few years. However, analytical data about the level of impact has not been understood. This was raised at the Commission for Social Development of the United Nations when discussions were made about the impact of the global crises on achieving social development goals. As a result, a study has been undertaken about what impact the global crises have made upon NGOs around the world.
As part of this study, the Civil Society and Outreach Unit of the United Nations Secretariat’s Division for Social Policy and Development is carrying out a survey and it is inviting NGOs around the world to participate in it. Questions have been asked in the survey to analyse the impact of crises on the organizations working for social development. The results of the survey will be published and presented at the Forty Eighth Session of the UN Commission for Social Development and will be used for advocacy purposes.
The survey can be taken up online and is available in English, French, Spanish and Chinese languages. For NGOs, which do not have access to high-speed internet, can download the forms and fill them. The last date to complete the survey is 23 October 2009. For more information, visit this link.
