The Other Foundation is inviting applications for grants from any individual or organization in thirteen eligible southern African countries to support work that addresses discrimination against lesbian women or transgender people.
To be eligible for a grant you must be:
- A lesbian woman or a transgender person, or an organization that is led by lesbian women or transgender people; or
A general LGBTI organization that addresses discrimination against transgender people or lesbian women.
Grant applications will be accepted in all four grant categories listed above. However, the grant period will be a maximum of one year only, ending on 30 September 2016.
The maximum amount for Hungwe / Fish Eagle grants will therefore be R150,000 over 12 months and the maximum amount for Mosu / Umbrella Tree grants will be R300,000 over 12 months.
The thirteen eligible countries from which grant applications will be accepted are Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The Foundation has ZAR 1.5 million for grant allocations in this round of grant making. Decisions about which concept proposals will be taken to the second stage of the process, will be made within three weeks of the closing date for the submission of concept proposals.
The closing date for submission of grant concept proposals is Wednesday, 18 November 2015.
