UN Women is the United Nations agency working for the cause of gender equality and women empowerment in the world. It was established in 2010 by the General Assembly to speed up the implementation of the programs designed for women and girls worldwide. This agency officially became operational on January 1, 2011. UN Women Pakistan works for the betterment of the lives of women in Pakistan. It supports the Pakistani Government in implementing the programs for gender equality in the country.
UN Women’s Women and Peace Programme
With an aim to integrate gender equality perspective in the current and future initiatives by the government and civil society organizations on crisis prevention and peace in Pakistan, UN Women Pakistan has initiated Women and Peace Program (WPP). The program focuses on strengthening national, regional and international approaches to protecting rights of women affected by crisis and supporting their role in prevention, resolution and peace building. Part of this work entails striving to reduce the prevalence of gender based violence in the country.
Call for Proposals
Experienced NGOs, consultancies and companies are invited to develop and manage a nation-wide survey on gender based violence (GBV) in Pakistan for UN Women’s Women and Peace Program (WPP). The objectives of this survey are as follows:
– To understand the causes, prevalence, effects and dynamics of gender based violence during and post crisis situations.
– To understand and highlight the existing mechanisms and machineries to protect, address and support women and girls from violence during and post crisis.
– To identify new mechanisms to prevent incidents of GBV and increased response post GBV;
Interested organization should have experience in a) designing and management of large scale surveys and baseline studies with focus on gender equality programmes and b) data collection and analysis; collection and analysis of reliable, valid and accurate information in an objective manner.
Timeframe and Budget
Proposals for duration of five to six months will be considered. Separate sheets should be provided for programmatic and operational costs, where programmatic costs must comprise at least 70% of the total budget.
Criteria for Selection of Proposal for Funding
The selection process will take into consideration the following:
– Quality: The overall quality of the proposal and how the activities link to the results.
– Results: Realistic, objective, measurable results and how the strategies are developed to achieve them.
– Capacity: Capacity of the organization to implement the project; including human resources (technical capacity), financial systems and successful experience of working on similar projects.
– Sustainability: Commitment to a follow up process, reliability and sustainability
– Budget: A suitable, cost-effective, small to medium scale budget against proposed activities.
The successful organization is expected to work closely with UN Women to ensure high-quality standards of programme design.
