In an NED grant proposal, project objectives have to be specific and measurable. The proposal guidelines advise against using broad aims like “to strengthen democracy in a country.” This kind of an objective is not clear, exact or measurable.
The project objectives preferably should be one or two in number, directly relevant to the issues raised in the background section of the proposal, addressing the needs or problems. It will also be useful to break the overall objectives into long-term and short-term objectives:
In our context, we can give the following example objectives:
“Increase the awareness and understanding levels of women from disadvantaged groups (such as those belonging to the minority and ethnic sections) about democratic processes…
Strengthen and sustain women’s groups and networks for advocacy of women’s rights and addressing of women’s issues.”
