Potential leaders, working at the local level who are interested in promoting inclusive development with a special focus on the position of women, and who wish to develop their personal leadership skills are highly encouraged to apply for The Hague Academy short course Gender Responsive Governance to be held from 23 March – 3 April 2015. The course aimed at increasing knowledge about gender concepts and making the participants aware of latest trends in relation to gender responsive governance will help them identify ways to increase participation and representation of women and marginalized groups in an organization or local setting.
The training course is designed for both men and women working with the gender issues. It begins by exploring the main gender concepts and how these interact with inclusive development. It improves the participants’ personal skills in lobby & advocacy and negotiation techniques and allows a platform for the participants to share own experiences and critically discusses with experts and other participants the best practices to tackle gender inequalities.
Course objectives
- Adopt tools for conducting gender analysis, gender responsive budgeting and mainstreaming gender in programs and projects
- Learn how to develop and apply measures to ensure equal and equitable access to public services
- Provide practical tools and approaches for analyzing relevant stakeholders while recognizing the importance of female involvement in policy and decision-making
Questions addressed by the course
- How can we increase representation and improve the impact of women in local decision-making?
- What strategies can we use to increase participation of women at local level and how do we involve men in this process?
In short: how do we make local governments responsive to the needs, demands and priorities of both women and men?
After successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of The Hague Academy for Local Governance.
