Closing Date: 20th August, 2012
Gordon Chapman PhD scholarship in Speech Language Therapy has been offered by Mrs Patricia Chapman. The scholarship is to support PhD study in any topic in speech language therapy that addresses a clinical issue in the management of acquired neurogenic communication disorders and that will have the potential to show a tangible benefit for people with these disorders at or soon after completion of the PhD. The work will clearly be grounded within a theoretical framework, but the outcomes should have a clear applied emphasis.
The scholars will be working in an internationally leading research team which will provide a supportive and welcoming environment with extensive infrastructure for clinical research both in the department and in association with local NHS services.
Duration of the award: 3 year PhD
The total award per annum is £7,000, payable for three years. This sum is to pay the university full-time PhD by research fee for students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (currently £4,320 for UK/EU students). Any remainder is paid to the candidate as a stipend for research costs. The successful applicant may need to identify additional sources of support.

Applicants should have an upper second or first class degree or equivalent in speech and language therapy/pathology or other relevant subject. Experience of clinical practice is desirable but not essential.
