The nomination process for the Education Student Leadership Awards from the Jenzabar Foundation has been started. This is the second annual award announced for this year. The awards are open to leaders as well as students who have demonstrated “a commitment to making a difference through community service and/or humanitarian endeavors.” The awards are open to applicants from different countries of the world. NGOs can specially participate in this program as it has now expanded from this year to include them as well. The awards include grants for successful applicants in the following areas:
- Local community support to assist individuals or groups that are underserved through existing community resources; i.e. after-school programs for children, home visits for the elderly, Habitat for Humanity projects;
- International humanitarian efforts; i.e. natural disaster relief, cultural exchange programs, overseas education or health-care assistance, poverty alleviation;
- Campus Ministry programs that reach outside campus boundaries;
- Education outreach to groups or individuals not enrolled in the institution;
- Environmental protection, natural resource management, alternative energy promotion, or climate/habitat awareness;
- Health care provisioning or awareness; and
- Issue advocacy targeted to local, state or federal government
