Call for Application is announced for Need-Based Scholarship Grants issued by the Vice-Rector, Academic Programs and Student Affairs.
Need-based scholarship grants are anticipated to promote the completion of scientific papers (diploma theses, Master’s theses, PhD thesis and others as well) for students in regular degree programs. Need-based scholarship grants to offer financial support to students while they are writing their academic thesis, for purposes such as research stays abroad (travel expenses, but nor living expenses) complicated or time-intensive literature research, or empirical work necessary for completion of the paper.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION:
- · EEA member country citizenship or Austrian citizen status (§4 of the Student Support Act [Studienförderungsgesetz, StudFG] 1992)
- · Citizens of third countries are considered to have equal status if included under the EEA Agreement or the Treaties of Rome; further stateless persons
- · Studies at WU, they, together with at least one parent, have been subject without restriction to Austrian income tax for at least five continuous years
- · Center of vital interests was in Austria throughout this period; and refugees as defined in Article 1 of the Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, Federal Law Gazette (Bundesgesetzblatt, BGBl) No. 55/1955.
- · Enrollment in a regular degree program at WU
- · Compliance with the entitlement period (§ 18 StudFG), accounting for any extensions due to reasonable cause (§ 19 StudFG)
- · Outstanding academic performance in a regular WU degree program
- · Diploma programs
- · Minimum academic performance requirements: completion of program-relevant courses worth at least 14 credit hours in the second phase
- · A grade point average of 2.5 or better on all courses and exams completed in the second phase
- · Successful completion of the first phase of the degree program
Secretarial and other incidental expenses (writing, printing, binding, copying or telephone expenses) are not eligible for support nor are neither expenses for supplies (e.g. computer, paper) nor expenses normally covered by the budget of the supervising Institute. Need-based scholarship grants may not be below € 700 or exceed € 3,600.
