Haybridge Sixth Form offer ten Academic Scholarships each year. Applications are invited from students currently in Year 11 at Haybridge and from students studying elsewhere who will join the Sixth Form in September 2013.
The award of £500 is to be used to support Advanced level academic study in Years 12 and 13 and enrichment activities such as University Summer Schools in preparation for Higher Education at Russell Group universities, Oxford and Cambridge. This scholarship is highly prestigious academic award and has high expectations from scholars.
Criteria for Scholarship application:
- · The annual award of a scholarship will be at the discretion of the Head teacher and Director of Sixth Form.
- · Students who achieve eight or more A* grades in GCSE subjects are invited to apply for the scholarship and will be interviewed by the Head teacher
- · Scholars will be expected to routinely commit to an intellectual journey above and beyond the demands of public examinations.
- · Scholars are expected to consistently achieve high attainment grades in examinations and in their reports. The organizers also recommend Scholars undertake the Extended Project Qualification in Year 12 to prepare them for their university studies.
- · Scholars will also be required to make a contribution to the academic life of the Sixth Form; this could be by acting as a Subject Mentor, Ambassador or undertaking an Officer role.
The organizers expect that all of those awarded the status of Scholar, will consistently fulfill the requirements for the retention of their scholarships and that the process of review will help them to meet and make the most of the status they have received. All academic scholarships awarded in the year 2013-14 and thereafter will be subject to termly review.
