James P. Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH) and BRAC University is seeking applications for WHO TDR International Post Graduate Training Scheme (TIPS) for its 12th batch of Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme taking a start in January 2016.
The training scheme is provided by TDR which is a special programme focused on research and training in tropical disease based at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
The training will be focused on courses relevant to career in implementation research i.e to projects that support the identification of health system bottlenecks and approaches to address them, and is particularly useful in low- and middle- income countries where many health interventions do not reach to those who need them the most.
Program’s Goal
The goal of the program is to enhance graduate training capacity and boost the number of researchers in low and middle-income countries.
Scholarships and Benefits
- Ten scholarships will be offered for the 2016-2017 academic year in Master of Public Health Programme.
- The scholarship will provide:
- One return economy airfare between the home country of the student and Bangladesh;
- Tuition fees and a basic medical and accident insurance;
- Allowance toward recommended learning materials;
- Support for Summative Learning Project (SLP);
- English language course and cultural competence to improve integration in the MPH Programme and overall learning environment of JPGSPH;
- Monthly stipend to cover living expenses equivalent to local living cost.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only applicants from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) of WHO South-East Asia and West Pacific regions are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Applicants should normally be under 35 years of age for TIPS
- Applicant should have a bachelor and/or Masters degree in social sciences including public health, medicine, nursing, midwifery, health sciences or equivalent disciplines
- Applicant must have an excellent academic track record with GPA 3.0 or above
- Proficiency in oral and written English and Mathematics is important for application.
- Applicant should have knowledge of Computer literacy, Microsoft Office and data analysis skills
