University of British Columbia (UBC) recognizes the academic achievements of high school and post-secondary students through the President’s Entrance Scholarships. Students are selected for a President’s Entrance Scholarship based on their admission average; there is no separate application. The students will find out if they have been awarded a President’s Entrance Scholarship, and the value of that scholarship, when they receive their offer of admission from UBC
Eligibility
To be eligible, the student must be entering studies at UBC from a high school, college, university, or technical institute. If he or she attended UBC previously, they are not eligible.
President’s Entrance Scholarship is based on the average of the student at the point of admission and is confirmed in their admission offer letter. Grades for all students will be verified against official records.
Course load requirements to maintain eligibility
The scholar must take 24 credits in his her first year (September to April) in order to receive his / her scholarship. To be eligible for future scholarships, including the TREK Excellence Scholarships for continuing students, the candidate must complete at least 27 credits in his first year (excluding wait-list and audit courses).
How do I apply?
You don’t need to apply. You’ll automatically be considered for the award when you apply for admission.
How will I receive the award?
In late August, the selected students will receive an email with the subject line “Award Offer.” This email will provide them with information and instructions on how to accept their President’s Entrance Scholarship.
Award money will be applied directly toward their tuition and fees in scheduled installments. Full award and instalment details will be available through the Student Service Centre account after the scholar accepts the award.
