Rotary Vocational Scholarships was also known as the Ambassadorial Scholarship and funded up to a minimum of US$30,000. Students at Victoria University of Wellington who are considering post-graduate study overseas in 2013 are invited to apply for a Rotary Foundation Vocational scholarship.
Interested applicants must apply for Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships through their local Rotary club. An applicant’s proposed field of study must fall within one or more of the six preferred areas of focus for which the Rotary Foundation is prepared to provide funding support.
The six focus areas are:
· Peace and Conflict Resolution
·: justify;”>· Water and Sanitation
· Maternal and Child Welfare
· Basic Education and Literacy
· Economic and Community Development.
Single awarded be offered with a minimum value of US$30,000. This scholarship covers the cost of academic fees, room and board, as well as travel to and from the study country of the awardees choice.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Rotary seeks out students prepared for the challenge of serving as outstanding ambassadors of goodwill. If, the candidate receive an Ambassadorial Scholarship, the candidate will be expected to participate in the following activities:
· Attend any orientation programs organized by your sponsor and host Rotary districts; failure to attend may result in forfeiture of the award
· Before departure, attend meetings of your sponsor Rotary club and Rotary events in your sponsor district as invited, and present at least one talk to a Rotary forum
· Make yourself available for and encourage media interviews at home and abroad
· Maintain full-time academic studies with distinction, giving equal importance to the ambassadorial and academic aspects of the scholarship
· Be actively involved with Rotary in your host district
· Submit required reports to The Rotary Foundation
· Maintain communication with your sponsor and host Rotarians before, during, and after your study period
· Upon completion of your studies, contact your sponsor Rotary club or club in your area of residence to offer to attend Rotary club or district meetings to share your ambassadorial experience and participate in Foundation alumni activities
· Present at least eight talks to Rotary and non-Rotary audiences after you return home
· If you receive an endowed or named Ambassadorial Scholarship (one that is funded by an individual donor or group of donors), you will have additional duties
· Register contact information with Alumni Relations at The Rotary Foundation, keeping your address, telephone number, and e-mail address updated at all times
