The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in India is seeking applications from local Indian organizations to support the HIV/AIDS Partnership: Impact through Prevention, Private Sector and Evidence-based Programming (PIPPSE). Please refer to the attached Program Description herein for a complete statement of goals and expected results.
In the last few years there have been several HIV/AIDS public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives supported at the national and state level. While there are definitive strengths in the Indian private medical sector, there are several gaps that hinder development of a strong partnership with private sector in HIV/AIDS care services. Despite its major role in providing health services, there is a paucity of data on private sector health care services, leading to challenges in partnering with private sector groups; there is a significant trust deficit between the public and private sector; and lack of a nodal national level PPP coordination agency to spearhead the private sector agenda has led to fragmented and adhoc partnership initiatives.
