Project Context
Following upon the movement of the White Ribbon Movement, the project will mobilize men and boys to speak out against violence against women and girls. Involving male celebrities and also top male officials in the government, judiciary and the police forces can bring about effective change in the discriminatory social behavior of the people.
Project Objective
Increase the participation of men, especially male celebrities and male officials from the government, judiciary and the police forces in the campaign against violence against women.
Project Activities
- Organize celebrity events at the local level with the community where popular celebrities speak out against violence against women.
- Organize workshops with male officials from the government, judiciary and the police forces to discuss and sensitize them on the issue of violence against women.
- Publish and disseminate posters, leaflets, video presentations and comic strips featuring male celebrities as role models rejecting violence against women
Project Outcomes
- Public acceptance of the popular feeling and movement against violence against women
- Stronger laws brought into force against perpetrators of violence against women
- Active youth participation to lead the campaign against violence against women
