United States Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) is inviting proposals from organizations interested in submitting proposals for projects that promote democracy, human rights, and rule of law in Burma, Vietnam and Sub-Saharan Africa for grant program ‘Expanding Labor Rights in Burma, Vietnam, and Sub-Saharan Africa’. The main objective of the program is to support projects that promote democracy, human rights and rule of law in the target country – Burma, Vietnam and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Proposed project must be targeted to one of the following regions – Burma, Vietnam, and Sub Saharan Africa.
- Proposed project for Burma must focus on increasing the representative capacity of unions in Burma, promoting workers’ rights and promoting or enhancing international labor standards.
- Proposed project for Vietnam must focus on promoting the internationally recognized worker rights of freedom of association and collective bargaining.
- Proposed project for Sub-Saharan Africa must promote adherence to international labor standards and strengthen corporate social responsibility in one or more countries where there is significant foreign investment in extractives, agriculture, construction, and resource product processing and where there is willingness on the part of government and civil society to address labor rights issues in those investments.
