LIN Center for Community Development, on behalf of Charity Cabaret Committee, is inviting grant proposals for the empowerment projects in Vietnam to be implemented in the southern part of that country.
A second annual fundraising event is being convened during November 5-6, 2011, and all the funds received through this event will be donated to three not-for-profit projects. This event was a great success last year, and it is expected that the selected projects may receive a grant up to 200 million Viet Nam Dongs this year. Theme of this year’s Charity Cabaret 2011 – Comic Strip Event is Empowerment through the Ages.
Selection Criteria
Criteria that will determine whether or not a project is eligible include:
- Thematic area: Empowerment through the ages
- Applicants must select one or more of the age groups that will benefit from their project. Empowerment may include, but is not limited to: non-traditional education, rights protection and/or rights education, self-esteem building, counselling, vocational training.
- Target Beneficiaries: Vulnerable populations, including, but not limited to: people with disabilities, victims of domestic violence, ethnic minorities, migrant workers.
- Location: Southern Vietnam
- Budget: Projects can apply for up to 200 million Viet Nam Dongs. The total amount allocated will depend on funds raised and guest votes on the night.
- Administration costs must be less than 20% of the total project budget.
- Track Record: At least one year of experience conducting not-for-profit activities in HCMC.
- Timeline – Up to two years
Grant Process
The grant process is divided into two phases. During Phase I, the committee will select the best project from among the eligible submissions for three different age categories. In Phase II, the three selected organizations will be asked to provide additional information about their projects prior to the 5 November fundraising event. At the event, guests will be asked to vote for their favourite project. This vote will determine the percentage of total funds raised that will go towards each of the three selected projects. The amount of the awards for each grantee will then be announced in late November/early December 2011.
