World Bank is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Knowledge Management Officer. Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken are essential. The job location is Pretoria, South Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Coordination of project experts: The Senior Knowledge Hub Coordinator (SKHC) will coordinate and guide the activities of all visiting missions and all locally recruited experts, conduct first-stage quality reviews, and ensure that their outputs are delivered according to the agreed time plan. The SKHC will support the TTL in the identification of experts, whereas selection and recruitment are being conducted by the TTL.
- Technical guidance: Based on his/her technical expertise, the SKHC will provide technical and methodological guidance to project experts. He/she will also monitor all relevant domestic policy developments and ensure, in consultation with the TTL, their adequate reflection in the project activities.
- Operational communication: The SKHC will maintain regular operational communication with counterparts in other institutions.
- Monitoring and client reporting: The SKHC will be responsible for preparing drafts of regular formal and informal project reports (to include inventory of activities conducted, labor inputs to date by category of experts, summary of findings/key challenges, preliminary recommendations and anticipate next steps), for review and finalization by the CD. Under the guidance of the CD, the SKHC will be responsible for developing and maintaining a project input and output monitoring system.
- Bank-internal liaison: Within the World Bank, the SKHC will liaise with other project teams as advised by the TTL. The SKHC will be expected to occasionally represent the TTL in meetings with respective country and sector units.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Advanced degree (Master or higher level) in a discipline linked to the main lines of Bank activities
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- [For internal applicants] In-depth knowledge of policies, processes, and practices related to the Bank’s lending and non-lending product lines, portfolio management, monitoring and evaluation, as well as other relevant operational policies and processes;
- A proven record in timely delivery of outputs with high quality
- Outstanding planning and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines; ability to adapt to shifting priorities and work pressure
- Proven strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to diagnose problems and propose solutions
- Excellent client orientation
- Experience with strategy formulation, project management and/or monitoring & evaluation, especially in southern Africa
- Dedicated team player with proven ability to work collaboratively across offices in several countries
