The United Nations-Habitat Urban Youth Fund invites applications from interested individuals to become Mentor to guide the youth-led organizations to realize their full potential.
The Urban Youth Fund of UN-Habitat is designed to empower youth round the world by providing grants and capacity building to selected organizations in developing countries. The major objectives of the fund are- to be a gate-opener for youth‐led groups with limited financial resources, to be a laboratory to test and scale successful youth-led development models, and to increase participation and engagement of youth-led organizations in the UN.
The Urban Youth Fund Mentors will guide the project coordinator on a range of areas, including project management, fundraising, budgeting, and media and operations issues. They will be spending minimum 6 hours per month along with coordinating with the UN-Habitat Urban Youth Fund team on complex matters and giving regular updates, providing a structure and a summary for each meeting, submitting quarterly evaluation of the organization, participating in global mentor online forum, and offering specific and constructive feedback while motivating the youth-led organization. The mentorship program will be interactive via Skype/internet.

Eligibility Criteria
- Individuals from any nationality are eligible to apply to become mentor.
- Applicants must have ability to offer specific, clear and constructive recommendations to resource-constrained projects.
- Applicants must have a passion for working with and guiding young people and youth leaders, especially at the grassroots level; and should have an understanding of how to support teams facing economic or political uncertainties.
- Applicants must demonstrate a track-record of managing teams and navigating multicultural challenges.
- Applicant must be able to coach on fundraising and growth initiatives and should have five years of experience in project management.
- Applicant must be fluent in one of the following languages: Spanish, English, or French. Knowledge of the following languages are desirable- Portuguese, Hindi, Urdu, and Arabic.
- Applicants working in developing countries or underserved communities are given priority.
