The Religions for Peace Global Youth Network was founded in 2006 during the World Youth Assembly in Hiroshima, Japan. The main objective of Global Youth Network is to encourage and support multi-religious youth action to eradicate poverty and save the earth. It is managed by the International Youth Committee that has a total of fifteen members from six continents of the world and who represent the world’s faith traditions.
The North American Interfaith Youth Network (NAIYN) is seeking nominations for individuals interested to work as representatives of North America in Global Youth Network. Two individuals will be selected as representatives from North America (one from the US and one from Canada). NAIYN requests people to nominate a youth representative from the different religious communities they are connected with and and/or other religious youth leaders throughout the United States and Canada.
Individuals should demonstrate a commitment to contribute to the Global Youth Network as a representative of the North American region and/or serve as a representative on the International Youth Committee. Nominees should demonstrate knowledge and experience in inter-religious cooperation for peace at the national, regional and/or global level.
International Youth Committee Members are expected to:
– Provide leadership in Religions for Peace Global Youth Network.
– Engage in global advocacy and action for youth-led multi-religious cooperation for peace.
– Assist in the development of, and serve as liaison with, national and regional inter-religious youth networks.
– Develop relevant partnerships with youth organizations, United Nations and other intergovernmental agencies, as well as civil society groups.
– Develop an annual plan in coordination with Religions for Peace International Secretariat.
– Provide leadership in global fundraising for Religions for Peace Global Youth Network
Send your recommendation, along with the CV nominee, consent from the recommended person (not required if it is a self-nomination), and other background materials including those that provide information on the nominee’s involvement in religious and/or inter-religious organizations.
At the end of the nomination period, a selection process for youth will be recommended by NAIYN to the International Youth Committee of which two will be selected to represent the North American Interfaith Youth Network.
