An important and perhaps slightly difficult part of the application process is the Essay Questions. The application requires that you complete answering four essay questions. Each answer should not be more than 240 words in length.
The questions to be answered are:
Question 1: Gandhi is often quoted for saying, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” How have you brought about change in your world?
Question 2: What is your greatest fear?
Question 3: Tell us a story…
Question 4: There are 20 million people in Pakistan who have been devastated by the country’s floods. You’ve just received a grant of $100 million – how will you use the money to have the greatest impact possible?
Do not type the answers directly. First write them down in a notepad or save them in separate computer file and then paste them in your application form as these cannot be saved in the online application system.
“The questions are intentionally ambiguous in order to give you the space to open up about your passions, creativity, imagination, and your sense of humor. Be sure to include not only how you think the fellowship will further your development as a leader, but also tell us about who you are as a person.”
The last part of the application submission process is uploading the copy of the original letter of recommendation, preferably from one of your references. Once, the letter of recommendation is uploaded, hit the submit button and there you are! The completed application form has reached the Acumen Fund Fellows Program for consideration.
Please note that once you submit the application, you will not be able to edit it again. If you think that you will be making changes later, just click the “Finish Later” button. By this, you can always come back, log in with your username and password and complete the form.
Detailed official application instructions are available at this link.
Remember, the deadline to apply for this Program is 15 November 2010.
