Applicants are invited for training program on Introduction to Policy Advocacy and Engagement program in West Africa. This program is organized by West Africa Civil Society Institute(WACSI). The program aims to create policies, reform policies, and ensure policies are implemented.
There are a variety of advocacy strategies, such as discussing problems directly with policy makers, delivering messages through the media, or strengthening the ability of local organizations to advocate. This course provides a step by step guide for planning advocacy initiatives, as well as advice for successful implementation.
Objectives-
- Clarify and define the main terms and concepts associated with advocacy, engagement, public policy
- Articulate the key purposes of the policy making cycle
- Expose participants to a range of policy communication and advocacy tools
- Lobby and negotiate effectively in a policy influencing process
- Monitor and evaluate advocacy processes
Eligibility & Criteria-
This course has been designed for staff that are new to policy advocacy and engagement. Practitioners working within the sector who have little or no policy advocacy experience should attend this course, as do managers who are managing staff responsible for policy advocacy interventions.
