BACK GROUND
Young Adult Action Against Poverty (YAAP), Liberia incorporated is a non profit, non religious local humanitarian organization found in Foya Town, Lofa County Republic of Liberia.
Its mandate is to promote reconciliation, fight against hunger/poverty and diseases.
It is dedicated to improving quality of rural life through education, increase food production; mitigate poverty, health services and infrastructure development.
YAAP, as it is called, operates at the moment in Liberia, with determination of extending in other countries. It strives to bring self sufficiency and long time benefits to Liberian youths, and other youths around the world, regardless of political affiliation, religious and cultural backgrounds through integrated agriculture, child health care, Education, Child Protection, water and sanitation and community health programme. The programme also provides people with sustainable means to achieve self sufficiency.
It is our wish to devote all efforts to the most vulnerable persons, consequently providing healthier and improved life style. YAAP, representing the community in war affected areas, creates awareness and promote proactive responses to those persons, particularly vulnerable (Young Adult) and children who are victims of war in the Liberian communities.
Renewable energy programme (agro management) adolescent reproductive health, HIV-AIDS, natural disaster and any kind of vulnerability.
The mission of (YAAP) is to help the poverty stricken population (youths in particular) sustain a better life. Understanding the economic constraint facing the country, YAAP intends to work along side with other organizations to mobilize resources for various sensitive areas in the communities to have them addressed through several charity agents through out the year in the country engage in national and international issues. YAAP is an effort to nurture a philanthropic society among the vulnerable people in the communities, making them aware of global issues and make proactive responses towards global humanitarian intervention.
Organization Purpose:
A.The purpose of YAAP is to organize charity activities within communities, YAAP exists to do the following but not limited to:
i.Analyze and understand the nature of conflict, the impact of war and its demand upon local, national and international actors in other to develop appropriate solutions with special attention to local culture and systems.
ii.Understand the recovery process through an exploration of the dynamics of rebuilding the social, economic, psychological, political and physical frameworks of war torn societies.
iii.Impact international principles and ethics of conflict resolution and peace building in relation to construction and development of sole professionals, have standard by which to evaluate proposed actions.
iv.Examine the professional’s role and provide technical, organizational and managerial training in assessing needs, designing intervention programme, working with communities project monitoring and evaluation.
Note: YAAP, will be affiliated with religious groups, government line ministries and other humanitarian organizations at national and international levels, and will create potentials sponsors for implementation of projects.
B.Mission Statements: YAAP will carter for its target groups and involves them in community developmental programs, give support for positive intervention and encourage active participation to actualize their good intentions.
C.Vision Statement: To establish network system where indigenous people can exchange information and new ideas, techniques to develop communities, human resources through programme and projects in the programmatic areas.
