Executive Summary
Young people are often the most affected by conflict, social fragmentation, and political polarization—yet they remain underrepresented in peacebuilding and decision-making processes. This project aims to empower youth as leaders, mediators, and change agents in promoting peace, dialogue, and social cohesion within fragile and divided communities.
Through youth-led initiatives, capacity building, community dialogue, and digital engagement, the project will strengthen trust across social, ethnic, and religious divides. Over 24 months, the initiative will directly engage 3,000 young people and reach wider communities, contributing to inclusive, sustainable peace at the grassroots level.
Problem Statement
Communities affected by conflict and social tensions often experience deep mistrust, exclusion, and limited opportunities for youth participation. Young people are frequently viewed as risks rather than partners in peace, despite their potential to drive reconciliation and social innovation.
Without constructive engagement, youth may face marginalization, unemployment, exposure to violence, and susceptibility to misinformation and radicalization. There is a pressing need for youth-centered, inclusive peacebuilding approaches that build skills, amplify youth voices, and foster collaborative community action.
