Technical Support Facility (TSF) South Asia will organise the South Asia Regional Workshop for 5 days from 12 to 16 September 2011 on “Capacity Development of Positive Women to Provide Effective Technical Assistance for Better Programs and Policies”. The workshop will be organized in association with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and International Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS Asia Pacific (ICW AP) at Mumbai, India. The principal aim of this event is to build the capacity of positive women for offering technical assistance. The workshop also aims to train more skilled positive women consultants who are able to influence policies and programs in South Asia.

Specific objectives of the workshop:
– Increase the understanding of professional consultancy among women living with HIV & AIDS.
– Enhance the soft skills of consultants (leadership, communication and social mobilization skills) so that they can identify and manage their technical support needs in the HIV and AIDS response.
– Identify women living with HIV & AIDS (WLHIVs) in the region who can be developed into strong community consultants.
Expected outcomes of the workshop:
At the end of the 5-day workshop, participants will be able to:
– Understand the key values, attitudes and skills required of a professional consultant
– Identify the major areas where technical assistance is needed in the region
– Engage as skilled community consultants in HIV & AIDS as well as Sexual and Reproductive Health national and regional programs
Selection Criteria
The applicants must be:
– Women living with HIV
– Working or affiliated with either positive networks, government and non-governmental organizations at sub national, national or regional level in the field of HIV & AIDS. Freelance consultants are also encouraged to apply.
– Interested and experienced in consultancy
The applicants must have:
– Fairly good ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English
– A minimum of 3-4 years experience working in HIV & AIDS on program management or advocacy
– A valid passport and willing to travel to Mumbai, India.
HIV positive women leaders are encouraged to express their interest to participate in the workshop; however selection will be based on the merit of the participant and the years of experiences in the HIV field.
