Greenpeace International is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Forest Campaigner in Montreal or Ottawa, Canada. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Forest Campaigner will work as part of a campaign team working to support Greenpeace’s global forest campaign.

Key Jobs Responsibility
The Forest Campaigner will perform the following functions-
- Developing and implementing approved campaign plans and strategies to achieve forest campaign goals (including, but not limited to mobilization, non-violent direct action, lobbying, research, and communications).
- Maintaining active and respectful relationships with First Nations leaders and community members.
- Managing outreach to allied groups, coalition partners, communities and influencers.
- Communicating with federal/provincial officials related to forest policies, regulations and legislation.
- Engaging major forest products customers to support forest conservation through voluntary and legislated mechanisms.
- Researching and analyzing a wide range of specialized material on forest issues and strategies. Maintaining an in-depth and current knowledge of forest issues and relevant effective and emerging strategies and tactics.
- Collaborating with Greenpeace Communications and Digital Mobilization staff to develop media contacts, secure regional and international media coverage promote campaigns through digital media and organize media events both in French and English.
- Promoting support within Greenpeace and to the public to advance campaign goals. Working with the Mobilization team to organize public events, protests, and actions. Making presentations and respond to public speaking requests. Initiating requests with strategically targeted groups.
- Leading cross-functional, national and global projects as needed as per established GP project management processes. Acting as task managers within a project management framework. Overseeing approved project budgets.
- Responding to public inquiries about campaign issues and other matters. Preparing materials and publications. Attending and/or organizing conferences.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Demonstrated commitment, knowledge and passion for environmental and social justice issues.
- Experience designing advocacy and corporate campaigns, including research, strategic analysis, goal-setting, communications framing, and tactic design.
- Experience working with First Nations communities and Indigenous Peoples.
- Experience playing a leadership role in setting team goals, strategies, and work plans that integrate campaigning, communications, mobilization, and fundraising.
- Experience setting and adhering to priorities in a volatile and ever-changing context.
- Excellent strategic thinking, negotiation and campaign planning skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with unions is an asset.
- Proven experience fostering a culture of excellence and innovation by actively sharing knowledge and striving for continuous improvement.
- Ability to coordinate projects and work with colleagues from a distance, involving multiple offices and time zones in a global environment.
- Ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking, media interview and presentation skills, as well as strong listening abilities.
- Leadership and judgment skills.
- Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and proceed with objectives without supervision, yet participates effectively as part of a team.
- Flexible, collaborative personality.
- Fluency in Bilingualism (English/French) is a requirement.
