The Oxfam International is currently accepting applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Legal Advisor based in Oxford and London.
The Legal Advisor will assist the Oxfam General Counsel/Company secretary and the Campaigns, Policy and Influencing Team (CPIT) and Oxfam International on legal, risk, compliance and governance functions relating to Campaigns and Advocacy.
The Oxfam International works to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Legal Advisor will perform the following functions-
- Provide legal advocacy input to Oxfam’s campaigns
- Support risk management of Oxfam’s campaigns (including campaign events and related activities)
- Legal support for Oxfam’s use of trademarks and copyright
- Manage occasional litigation
- Advice on strategy Range of Charity Commission and other regulatory advice affecting Oxfam
- Promote legal and risk knowledge management within Oxfam, through Intranet and training
- Support group companies
- Assist with roll out and implementation of Lawyers against Poverty
Eligibility Criteria
- Lawyer qualified in UK or another common law jurisdiction
- Commitment to Oxfam’s value
- Advocacy experience
- Campaigns/media experienced
- Effective communicator
- Works effectively with and supports others
- Values diversity
- Libel Law experience
- Knowledge of charity law
- Good self-management and ability to work independently
- Litigation experience
- Legal risk management experience
- Skilled in knowledge management
- Spanish, French or other languages
- Skilled in knowledge management
