Among many others we are currently working internationally in South Asia, South East, Southern and Eastern Africa delivering the Integrating Development and Conflict Transformation Programme, funded by DFID, working in Botswana with eight local partners on a Rural Communities Livelihood Programme, funded by the EC, and working with a local NGO in Tanzania (UNCODET) on a Mother & Child Health project.?
The organization works to reduce poverty, injustice and inequality and to promote economic and social development in partnership with people and communities throughout the world. We do this by sharing and developing skills and ideas, facilitating organisational and social change and building awareness of development issues.
Our primary sectors for the period 2005-2010 are Health, Education, Environment and Economic empowerment and four themes will cut across all these sectors: Peace Building and Human Rights, Gender and HIV and AIDS.
The organization has both country and regionally based programmes with a geographical focus on both Africa and Asia.
Partner NGOs
(1) Established in 1987, is a pioneer organization in Nepal working for the promotion of human rights. It has long experience of empowering women socially as well as economically. It has promoted CBO formation through savings and credit cooperatives in different districts of Nepal. It also runs shelter homes to provide livelihood skills for women victims of trafficking and gender-based violence.
(2) Established in 1992, strives to empower poor and deprived women and girls to fight injustice and promote sustainable economic support systems for them. It has considerable experience in carrying out innovative advocacy campaigns for better politico-legal frameworks against gender discrimination. It runs rehabilitation and counselling centres for women affected by conflict, violence and abuse of human rights.
(3) Established in 1997, is an organization run by survivors of trafficking, working to prevent gender-based violence and provide livelihood support through skill development for victims of trafficking. They have been involved in building community-based mechanisms at the grassroot-level to prevent gender-based discrimination and rehabilitate conflict-affected women with livelihood skills.
