Griffith University is offering the Patience Thoms Indigenous Australian (Honours/Postgraduate) Scholarships to assist Indigenous students moving onto Honours and Graduate studies. The scholarship aims to give both material and financial support for Indigenous students who require such support to complete further university studies.

– Honours (embedded or end-on) program
– Graduate Certificate program
– Graduate Diploma program
– Masters program (NOT graduate entry)
Eligibility and Selection criteria
To be eligible for the Patience Thoms Indigenous Australian (Honours/Postgraduate) Scholarship, an applicant must:
– have met the requirements for admission to an Honours (embedded or end-on) program or a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters program
– be an Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander
– have proven academic merit – copies of transcript to be provided
– demonstrate how the scholarship will be used to further their studies
– provide details of any other equity issues which will be taken into account.
In accordance with existing commitments made by the University at least two scholarships will be reserved for eligible applicants who belong to the Kombumerri People.
Value and conditions
There are 14 scholarships available, each to the value of up to $4000 ($2000 for part-time) for one year, to be paid in two installments. Masters students who take more than one year to complete their program will be able to re-apply for further support.
