Introduction
Climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges, affecting ecosystems, livelihoods, and communities worldwide. Women, especially in developing regions such as South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, are disproportionately impacted due to their dependence on natural resources and limited access to decision-making platforms.
At the same time, women play a critical role in environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture, and community resilience. Global frameworks promoted by the United Nations highlight the importance of gender equality in climate action. However, women remain underrepresented in leadership roles related to climate policy, planning, and implementation.
This project aims to promote women’s leadership in climate action by enhancing their capacity, increasing participation, and supporting gender-inclusive climate solutions.
Problem Statement
Despite their significant contributions, women face several barriers in climate leadership:
- Limited Representation: Low participation in climate decision-making
- Lack of Access to Resources: Limited access to finance, land, and technology
- Skill Gaps: Insufficient training in climate-related knowledge and leadership
- Social Barriers: Cultural norms restricting women’s roles
- Policy Gaps: Lack of gender-responsive climate policies
These challenges limit the effectiveness of climate actions and exclude valuable perspectives.
