Asia Pacific Youth Forum 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal: Sponsorships available

ICIMOD in collaboration with the Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) is organizing the Asia Pacific Youth Forum from 5-8 October 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The event will bring together young professionals, including scientists, early career professionals, young politicians, and youth initiative leaders from the region, and will develop their knowledge on mountain and climate change adaptation issues with a focus on sustainable and resilient mountain livelihoods.

Who can apply?

  • Youth between the ages of 23 and 32 from the Asia-Pacific region with an academic or a professional degree in related fields are eligible to apply.
  • Youth with demonstrated leadership in sustainable development issues working with governmental and non-governmental organizations are strongly encouraged to apply.

This forum has been made possible with support from the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) under its Sustainable Mountain Development for Global Collaboration (SMD4GC) programme, the Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).

Selected participants will be provided with international airfare, accommodation, food, and local transport as applicable.

3ie is offering eight bursaries for the third evaluation conclave in Nepal .The conference will be based on the theme ‘Building bridges: use of evaluation for decision making and policy influence’.

The conclave will include professional workshops on building skills around evaluation methodologies and panel presentations and round-tables on experience sharing around evaluation.

This programme is part of 3ie’s efforts toward building capacity in conducting and using high-quality impact evaluations and systematic reviews that can generate policy relevant evidence.

The conclave will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 23-27 November 2015.

The Bush Foundation of USA is currently accepting applications for scholarships to attend Independent Sector National Conference to be held at 26 to 29 October 2015. The scholarship is designed to promote diversity and inclusiveness. The Foundation Main Conference Scholarships are available to charitable sector leaders and professionals in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

The Independent Sector National Conference is the premier opportunity for people from across the nonprofit and philanthropic community to come together and examine pressing issues faced by the organizations and the communities served.

Benefits

Awardees with scholarships that cover hotel accommodations will be assigned a hotel room for a certain number of nights, depending on the programming each awardee is scheduled to attend. Awardees with scholarships that cover flight/travel will be reimbursed after the conference.

Scholarship recipients will also be invited to a special Bush Foundation reception on the first day of the conference, where they can connect with one another.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible participants are established or emerging leaders of small- and mid-sized nonprofit organizations in USA with an annual budget of less than $5 million.
  • Preference will be given to first-time applicants.
  • The scholarship application period will run from May 2015 to July 31, 2015 and is open to both IS members and non-members.

Counter Terrorism Photo Contest to Combat Terrorism: Submit Entries to Win $ 350 USD Plus Other Benefits

The International Secretariat for Youth Action Against Terrorism (IYAAT) is currently accepting photographic submissions for its Counter terrorism photo contest 2015. The top 12 entries shall be used in the buildup of the conference theme and the entrants given a limelight throughout the conference preparation, running, and post-conference period.

Prizes

The three selected winners:

  • First Prize: $ 350 USD
  • Second Prize: $ 150 USD
  • Third Prize: $ 100 USD

Other Benefits

Additionally, the winners in this contest shall participate in the International Youths Conference on Counter Terrorism to held in Nairobi (Kenya) for the period 4th to 6th February 2016, and the winner be installed as IYAAT’s Goodwill Ambassador (For a period of 2 Years) at the conference while the first and second runner’s up shall be considered for positions in the IYAAT’s International Secretariat, and receive prices at the Conference. They shall however have to cater for their travel expenses to and from Nairobi while their accommodation is fully catered for.

The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) is calling applications for the 2015 IHS Conference and Research Grant. It is awarded to current PhD students advancing the principles of personal liberty and economic freedom through an academic career.

Grants up to $750 are available to cover travel, conference fees, and other career-related expenses. The awards are made available exclusively to applicants who are new to IHS or who have recently indicated an interest in academia.

  • Applicants from all countries except Taiwan are eligible to apply for the fellowship program.
  • Applicants should possess an MA or equivalent in a field relevant to the proposed project at the time of application.
