Steps

  1. Register Online & download full suite of education materials
  2. Create a business idea within four weeks of registration

  5. Write a business plan- within six weeks
  6. Launch own business and start generating income

All interested applicants from around the globe are invited to submit applications for Kiva Fellows Program. Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.

The major purpose of this program is to encourages applicants with substantial cross-cultural immersion experience and backgrounds in business, finance, international development, community engagement, outreach, and consulting to apply.

The Vitamin Angels invites local NGOs to become International Field Partners for Vitamin A Supplement and Multivitamins

The Vitamin Angels is inviting locally registered non-governmental organizations in the developing countries, working with children under the age of 5 (five) and mothers, to become its international partner for the supplement of Vitamin A and multivitamins.

Vitamin Angels that works with over 325 local NGOs and development organizations helps at-risk populations in need- specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five- gain access to lifesaving and life changing vitamins and minerals. Through this partnership program, the Vitamin Angels’ targets to distribute vitamin A and multivitamins to 40 million at-risk children and mothers in over 40 countries.

Applications can be made for

  1. 100,000 IU vitamin A for infants 6-11 months
  2. 200,000 IU vitamin A for children 12-59 months
  3. Albendazole (limited availability; donated with vitamin A only)
  4. Multivitamins for children 6-59 months
  5. Multivitamins for pregnant and lactating women

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be locally registered non-profit organizations (non-governmental organization, clinic etc) providing permanent in-country facility with local professional staff.
  • Applicants must be able to serve a minimum of 1,000 children under 5 and/or 100 women with micronutrients.
  • Applicants must be able to legally transport all donated product into the project country and clear customs appropriately without assistance from VA. NGOs that do not have a US based presence must be able to accept delivery of an international shipment and clear customs appropriately without assistance from VA.
  • Applicants must have the capacity to and plan to provide micronutrients to the same project areas for at least 3 years.
  • Applicants must commit to agree to the terms and conditions listed in the grantee application.
  • The targeted beneficiaries must be situated within selected countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America / Caribbean that have been identified by the WHO or UNICEF as vitamin A deficient priority countries (i.e. experience moderate to severe VAD).
  • Target beneficiaries must be between 6-59 months of age, and/or pregnant or lactating women.
  • Target beneficiaries must be underserved with respect to access to essential micro-nutrients, generally meaning they meet one of the following criteria-
  1. Reside in a rural area without any immediate access to facility-based health care services.
  2. Reside in a rural area but may obtain routine health services through outreach or community-based services.
  3. Reside in an urban area without access to facility-based health care services.
  4. Reside in an urban area, have access to facility-based health care services, but the health service system does not have immediate access to essential micro-nutrients.

The Global Junior Challenge International Competition Rewarding Innovative Use of Technology for the Education of 21st Century and the Social Inclusion

The Fondazione Mondo Digitale is accepting project entries from individuals around the world for the Global Junior Challenge 2014. It is an international competition that rewards the innovative use of technology for the education of 21st century and the social inclusion.  The challenge rewards projects in all fields of youth education ranging from websites created by middle school students to global projects employing cutting edge technology for online training.

The GJC is a unique opportunity to reflect on the importance of the challenges posed by 21st century education and the role of technology in didactic innovation, social innovation, development and the reduction of world poverty.

Project Areas

  1. Education for the 21st century
  • Projects promoting ICT for environmental sustainability in collaboration with Legambiente
  • Projects using ICT to train youth to obtain initial job placement
  1. Social Inclusion Area
  • Projects promoting ICT for migrants and refugees integration

Types of Awards

  1. The main GJC Award to winning project selected from among all participants– Winners receive a bronze medal with the Etruscan wolf, the prestigious symbol of the foundation of the City of Rome.
  2. The President of the Italian Republic Award– The six best projects on ICT-based educational innovation presented by Italian schools will receive an award offered by the President of the Italian Republic
  3. The GJC Award for finalist projects from poor areas of the world– This award is reserved to finalist projects from the poorer areas of the world that employ ICT to promote the reduction of poverty and increase social inclusion.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The competition is open to individual citizens of any age.
  • Participants can be-schools and universities, both public and private, worldwide; public and private institutions and organizations; associations, cooperatives and other non-profit organizations; public and private companies; research centers.
  • All projects that were still in operation as of December 31, 2013 and addressed to youth up to 29 years of age and which use new ICT technology for education and training are eligible for the competition.

Become TrustLaw Connect Member

The TrustLaw Connect, the global hub for free legal service to NGOs and Social Enterprises to assist them with their high impact projects encourages both legal firms and the social organizations (non-governmental organizations and social enterprises) to apply for membership and make their humanitarian service more effective.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • NGO should seek to address social, humanitarian, or environmental problems and must be at least in its third year of operation.
  • Social enterprise should be a registered legal entity addressing social, humanitarian or environmental challenges with non-discriminatory, apolitical and non-proselytizing nature. It should be a non-profit or for-profit organizations able to share at least one report or plan detailing its activities, programs and impact measurement approach; and should be able to demonstrate the financial sustainability with evidence of investment support for the 12 month period following the application or revenue generating activities.
  • Law firm should be in a position to provide legal services free of charge, as and when appropriate, for TrustLaw Connect projects; should be in good standing with any applicable bar or law society(s).

How to Apply?

Applying legal form or NGO should first take a quiz. Those accepted as eligible to apply to become member should then complete application form and send to the provided email address.

To become law firm member of the TrustLaw Connect, the applicant should complete the application form. Application form is split into 4 simple steps and applicants need to complete this in one visit. The key information required are-

  • organization details (name, address, telephone number etc)
  • details of the main contact for TrustLaw
  • focus area (geographical region)
  • number of staff (partners and lawyers)
  • establishment date
  • any previous pro bono experience

To become NGO or social enterprise member of the TrustLaw Connect, the applicant should complete the application form. Application form is split into 5 simple steps and applicants need to complete this in one visit. The key information required are-

The Thomson Reuters Foundation provides free legal assistance, media development and in-depth coverage of the world’s under-reported stories to trigger change and empower people. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must have a record of public service in the community.

Emerging Leaders International Fellowship Program and US Diversity Fellowship for Practitioners and Researchers in the US and Abroad

The Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society’s Emerging Leaders International Fellows Program provides fellowships to participate in the leadership training. Young professional practitioners and researchers interested in strengthening community philanthropy and building capacity in local Third-sector institutions are encouraged to apply for the fellowships. The fellowship will be awarded to applicants from abroad and from the under-represented communities in the United States grant-making sector.

The 2014 program will run from 22 September to 12 December 2014. Participants will be based at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York to design and pursue an individualized research project. They will get opportunities to attend weekly seminars, explore work of key agencies and foundations, meet with nonprofit leaders and study U.S. and international community foundation models.

The fellowship covers tuition, accommodations, medical insurance, program materials, local meetings, local travel and other program-related costs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Practitioners and researchers in the United States and overseas are eligible to apply.
  • College or university degree and strong spoken and written English language skills are must.
  • Applicants should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the nonprofit/NGO/grant-making field.
  • Applicants must have a strong institutional base and be well-placed to implement research recommendations.
  • Preference is given to candidates who are – affiliated with a community foundation or initiatives to support community philanthropy development, and those who illustrate in their proposals a clear interest in furthering the work of community foundations and strengthening the local culture of philanthropy.

Note: The deadline is for non-US citizens. Individuals living and working in the United States can submit the application any time. Application must be forwarded via online application system along with the Curriculum Vitae and Proposal.

FONTAGRO’s accepting proposals for Climate Technology Transfer Mechanisms and Networks in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)

The Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology (FONTAGRO) is seeking proposals for project on Climate Technology Transfer Mechanisms and Networks in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This project is being funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF). The main purpose of this program is to promote the develop and transfer the environmentally appropriate technologies in LAC that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and vulnerability to climate change in specific sectors.

Total fund offered for this project is up to US$200,000 for the period of 24 months.

The Public Forum 2014 will be held from October 1-3, 2014 in Geneva. The Forum has the theme Why Trade Matters to Everyone and it invites proposals from NGOs around the world. The forum is a platform to share the human stories behind trade. The participants will get an exposure to the connections between trade and people’s daily lives. The forum will showcase the impact and improvement trade brings in day-to-day lives of people around the globe – be it in developed nations or the developing world.

The proposal can be made for Working Sessions or Workshops

  1. Working Sessions: Limited number of Panelists introducing Issue and offering own point of view

  • NGOs, academia, business, media, governments, parliamentarians and inter-governmental organizations around the world are eligible to submit proposal for participation in WTO Public Forum.
  • The proposal must link to the main theme and sub-themes.
