Romanian Government Scholarships 2016-2017 for non EU Countries

Romanian State to foreign citizens through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently inviting applications for the 85 scholarships program for under- and post-graduate studies in Romania.

Scholarship Covers

  • Free-of-charge tuition,
  • Free-of-charge accommodation
  • Financial support
    • 65 EURO per month, for the under-graduate students.
    • 75 EURO per month, for post-graduate students (master degrees and specialization).
    • 85 EURO per month, for post graduate students (doctor’s degree).

Priority Fields

Political and administrative sciences, education studies, Romanian culture and civilization, journalism, technical studies, oil and gas, agricultural studies, veterinary medicine, architecture, music, arts.

Eligibility Criteria

Application open to:

  • Citizens of non EU countries (irrespective of their country of residence).
  • Priority is given to citizens from non EU states with which Romania does not have cultural and education cooperation agreements.

How to Apply

  • Application files submitted by post or directly to the MFA or to the MECS.
  • Applications files should contain documents in English or French language.
  • If the application files contain documents in other foreign languages than English or French, they must be accompanied by authorized translations in one of the following languages: Romanian, English or French. Generally, Romanian universities may require that all enrolment documents should be accompanied by authorized copies and authorized translations in Romanian.

WAN-IFRA Women in News Leadership Development Programme: Inviting Women Working for Newspapers or Digital Media!

The World Association of Newspaper and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) is inviting women working for newspapers or digital media to apply for Women in News (WIN) leadership development programme.

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers, or WAN-IFRA, is the global organisation of the world’s press, representing more than 18,000 publications, 15,000 online sites and over 3,000 companies in more than 120 countries. It was created by the July 2009 merger of the World Association of Newspapers and IFRA, the research and service organisation for the news publishing industry. The two organisations have a 110-year history between them as the global representatives of the world’s press.

The Women in News (WIN) programme provides women media professionals with personalized, high-impact leadership development opportunities with the support of local and international experts. It works with media companies and their high potential female employees to overcome the gender gap in management and senior management positions. The programme equips women media professionals in middle and senior management positions with the strategies, skills and support networks they need to take on a greater leadership role within their organisations.

WIN participants have benefited from individual coaching, media management and leadership skills training, mentoring and networking opportunities to strengthen their skill-sets and help them overcome barriers to advancement in the workplace.

Eligible countries: Botswana, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine.

Positive Action for Children Fund Call for Proposals 2016

The ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action for Children Fund (PACF) 2016 Call for Proposals is now open.

PACF supports organisations to deliver prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV services, which empower mothers and children across the globe. Every year, we continue to form new partnerships with community focused organisations; who strive to alleviate the devastating effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

PACF supports organisations across four continents, with special attention given to countries with the most need of PMTCT interventions: Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Angola, Burundi, Chad, Tanzania, Kenya and India.

The PACF aims to alleviate the impact of HIV and AIDS on women and children’s health by supporting interventions that engage affected communities, developing their capacity to participate and lead. This call is focused on non-governmental and community-based organisations that can deliver change at a community level thanks to their links with or representation of the communities affected. Please note: the 2016 Call for Proposals is limited to Large Grant applications only. Large grants have an upper limit of £300,000 over three years and a lower limit of £75,000 (minimum £25,000 per year). No small grant applications are being considered in this round.

They will offer 4 scholarships for distance learning Master’s programmes offered by the University.   • The scholarships will be awarded to students who are accepted for admission onto the above eligible distance learning Master’s programmes at the University of Edinburgh.
  • Applicants intending to study a distance learning PgCert are only eligible to apply if that PgCert is part of a distance learning Master’s programme.

Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa: Non Registered Entities can Submit Proposals for Innovative Grant Programme 2016

Funding Guidelines

  • OSISA invites proposals from civil society, community or state actors from Southern Africa, which are not formally registered entities.
  • OSISA will consider concept proposals from such unregistered and informal groups and formations that, if approved, may then be further developed into fully-fledged grant proposals for consideration.
  • Non-registered groups and formations may submit OSISA 2016 Concept Proposal Forms for consideration by OSISA.

Monsanto Fund: Improving Lives in Farming Communities

The Monsanto Fund is inviting applicants in order to improve the lives of farming communities around the world – as well as supporting the communities.

The Monsanto Fund accepts grant proposals for programs outside of the U.S. in the following areas:

  • Providing basic education support designed to improve education in farming communities around the world, including supporting schools, libraries, science centers, farmer training programs and academic programs that enrich or supplement school programs
  • Meeting critical needs in communities by supporting nonprofit organizations that help with things such as food security, sanitation, access to clean water, public safety and various other local needs.

Funding Information

The smallest grant will consider is US $25,000.

  • International applications from organizations to fund projects located in eligible countries (given above)
  • Applications to the Monsanto Fund for international regions are by invitation only
  • Eligible organizations include public charities incorporated in the U.S. and working in a foreign country, indigenous public charities, units of government, private schools primarily serving an economically disadvantaged population, and private hospitals primarily serving an economically disadvantaged population.
  • Monsanto Fund will not fund to Individual aid, Underwriting deficits, Fraternal, labor, Religious, politically partisan or similar groups.
  • Organizations that discriminate based on race, creed, ethnicity, religion, sex, age or national origin are not eligible to apply.

Trellis Fund Empower Smallholder Farmers in Developing Countries

The Horticulture Innovation Lab is currently inviting applications for its funding horticultural projects with development organizations through the Trellis Fund Project. The goal of the Horticulture Innovation Lab’s Trellis Fund is to link knowledgeable graduate students in the United States to small-scale organizations in eligible developing countries through a unique funding structure.

The Trellis Fund aims to empower smallholder farmers with new information as well as build longstanding relationships between host organizations and U.S. researchers.

Eligible Countries

Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Rwanda, Senegal, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia

Grants available

The maximum funding available for each project is $2,000 USD, with funding available for 15 projects.

Key Dates

  • Funding decisions by: April 29, 2016
  • Funding available: January 1, 2017
  • Six-month projects must be completed by: December 31, 2017

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Trellis Fund accepts proposals from small organizations in our eligible countries on topics related to fruit and vegetable marketing, production or consumption. Organizations with a staff of 50 or less are preferred.
  • Granted organizations will be responsible for completing their issued contracts, a mid-term Skype or phone interview with Trellis Fund coordinators, and a final report. They will also be responsible for following through with the monitoring and evaluation plans that they create and revised with their U.S. graduate student.

Innovation Grants for Projects using Online Research Literature

Have you found ways to improve access to online books and journals so that people are using them more? Do you have an innovative idea of how you might increase online research literature usage? If yes, then apply for innovation Grants.

INASP is currently inviting applications for its Innovation Grants or Projects using Online Research Literature. INASP is offering competitive grants to support innovative ideas on how to tackle the issue of under-use of valuable e-resources and increase their use. Successful proposals will include plans for actions and/or structures which increase e-resource usage and at the same time produce learning which can be shared with other institutions.

INASP works with consortia or equivalent national bodies to provide access to online research literature (e-resources).

Objectives

  • Grants may be used for any innovative activities which intend to increase the use of e-resources by researchers, lecturers, academics, policymakers or students. Partnerships may be a particularly effective way to implement promising ideas which will tackle the under-use of e-resources. Projects would look at who the users are and what would encourage or enable them to use these resources more.
  • They may also be used by journal editors to investigate the citation of current online journals in the articles submitted, and the effect this has on journal quality.
  • These grants will provide an opportunity for implementing innovative ideas, taking risks, learning by doing and sharing experience with peers.
  • The emphasis will be on creative ideas where failure is fine – so long as there is good data/evidence/analysis that we and others can learn from. Therefore, good M&E will be important.

Grants available

INASP will offer one off grants of up to $5,000 for projects.

  • Applications are invited from any individuals, institutions or organizations in INASP focus countries (mentioned above).
  • Each application should nominate a project lead who will take responsibility for managing this project and being the point of communication with INASP.
  • Successful applicants will be asked to provide details of an institutional bank account into which the grant can be paid.

Applicants must send an application of no more than 5 pages, which should include overall goals and objectives, proposed activities, project lead, project monitoring and evaluation and budget via email.

UNESCO/Israel (MASHAV) Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme 2016 for African & Caribbean Countries

UNESCO/Israel (MASHAV) is currently inviting  applications for its Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme 2016  to promote human resource capacities in the developing countries through intensive training and to enhance international understanding and friendship among peoples of the world and the people of Israel. The Government of Israel is placing at the disposal of UNESCO a number of fellowships for the benefit of certain Member States (especially the least developed countries) within the framework of the UNESCO Fellowship Programme.

Beneficiaries of these fellowships will be given the opportunity of participating in a variety of training courses in Israel, conducted under the sponsorship of the MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation.

  • Health insurance and basic medical care (This does not include dental care, glasses, and chronic illnesses).

Eligibility criteria

  • High-level educational staff, at the regional or national level, dealing with the target population, school principals, counselors, supervisors, lecturers at teacher training institutions, and researchers in relevant fields.
  • Be proficient in reading and writing in the language of instruction; (if the language of instruction is not the mother tongue, a certificate of language proficiency must be provided).
  • Be not more than 50 years of age.

  • Have completed at least 21 days of the 42-day online self-development program. Note that in order to submit the application form, candidates do not need to have completed the online self-development program.
  • Have good proficiency in written and spoken English language. Those who can speak French will have an added advantage.
  • Be optimistic, be open-minded, show leadership potential, and have a genuine interest in peace building.
  • Be young leaders in local, national or international organizations.
  • Send a recommendation letter from their organizations/institutions.
  • Pay a commitment fee of 100USD before the arrival to the retreat site (by Bank transfer or Western Union).
